It’s a big one, IOS 11 is officially out for customers. This means anyone can install it on their iPhone or iPad to experience something that the tech giant- Apple has been working on. In case, if you have tried the
Beta version, I am sure you must have discovered most of the hidden secrets of the eleventh major release of the iOS mobile operating system. But if you are experiencing for the very first time, then you must hang on to know the most hidden, handy and most neat features of IOS 11.
What Are The Best Features Hiding Beneath The Surface?
Improved control center- Here the control center is split into two windows: i.e. one for music and one for everyone else. It’s unified, simplified and fills the whole screen on an iPhone. You can even customize what settings appear.
In order to customize the control center go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls and you can easily add shortcuts to Low Power Mode, Notes, Text Size, Wallet, Screen Recording (more later) and others. Note the layout is fixed.
One-handed Keyboard- iPads had this feature a way back, but in IOS 11 iPhone users can hold down the globe keyboard button. After this, a mini keyboard will appear which can be attached to the left or right side of the display.
Hitting the shift key for long use to bring alternative symbols and numbers but now in the most recent incarnation, alternative symbols can be assessed by pulling down on the shift key.
Dark mode- For the achieving the dark mode, all you need to do is open Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > and switch on Smart Invert. This enables a system-wide dark mode. In addition to this, if you invert colors, apps can look pretty terrible. The only problem with the mode is that it makes some apps unusable.
Siri- With IOS 11, anyone can hack an Accessibility feature which allows you to type your question. Settings > General > Accessibility > Siri >Type to Siri . So, next time when you prompt “Siri”, a keyboard will appear.
Further speaking about Siri’s translation, it now supports spoken translation like Google assistant. Simply ask “How to say [use any language here] in [different language] and you will get a spoken and written answer in English, French, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish.
Create PDF via Safari- Open any web page on Safari, hit the share button, Tap create PDF. And see the magic! This will quickly let you create a PDF. I must say it’s much faster than the older method.
The Flashlight Has another Intensity Option- Try offering 3D touch or long press on the flashlight icon in the Control Center, soon you will discover that instead of three intensity options (low, medium, high), there's a fourth one. Here the names have been removed, so you'll just have to guess at what the fourth one is called.
Airplane Mode- Previously, when you toggled Airplane mode on- off and then again from the control center, it wouldn’t remember if you had enabled Bluetooth or Wi-Fi while the mode was on. With the latest update in IOS 11, Airplane mode automatically remembers your settings so you don't have to re-enable Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi when turning Airplane Mode off and back on again.
Camera- Automation detection of QR codes is now supported by just opening your camera and pointing it at one. It’s time to bid farewell to all those third-party QR code apps. Besides, to activate the leveling tool, navigate to settings > Camera and switch on ‘Grid. Now when the camera is taking a photo of something on the direct basis, + icons will appear. Line those up and the image will be exactly level before you take your shot.
To open the live photo editing- open a live photo, tap edit and mute the video. The most interesting thing about the feature is that here you can look for the video preview at the bottom and trim as you feel like by dragging the sliders from either end. Moreover, you can also swipe up on a Live Photo to add Bounce, Loop, and Long Exposure effects.
Screen Control– Have you checked the very new option for the control center? While toggling, IOS 11 automatically captures whatever is happening on your screen until you tell it to stop. This is a great feature for instructional videos and tech support. Moreover, there are several options available to re-crop and markup your screenshots so that they will appear straight after they are taken, saving you the hassle of driving back into your camera roll first.
Hide alerts in iMessage- There are times when you don’t want notifications from an annoying person or spammers. So what can be done is? Snooze alerts. On the main screen, where you see all of your messages, swipe left on the message you want to snooze and tap Hide Alerts.
These are our favorite hidden features in IOS 11. Which are yours? Let us know in the comment section below.
