From the very beginning, the coming of privatization in the field of education in India has created a high level of inequality amongst students all over the country. Especially, for students living in rural areas, getting quality education is a distant dream. As a majority of private schools in the country are located in urban locations, therefore, it is very hard for people from rural areas to get the opportunities which a city kid has. Moreover, not all families are financially equipped to handle the expenses of a private school education.
On the matter of Infrastructure:
Even at the level of infrastructure the government schools are highly ill-equipped in comparison with the private schools. As a result there is a vast difference in terms of opportunities for students in Government Schools. Because of inferior infrastructure these schools are unable to provide an atmosphere of competition as they do not have the infrastructure to hold inter school competitions for their students.
As a result the students never have the benefit of practicing the theory which they study in their schools. Because of this they have a harder time grasping the concepts which they study which comes almost naturally to a Private school student.
On the matter of faculty:
Because of rampant corruption in the government sectors there is a huge difference in the faculty which a government schools provides and that which a private school provides. As a result the IQ level of an average private school student is way higher than an average government school student.
As the teachers are ignorant about the childrenâs future, they teach them without any motivation. As a result the students in government schools are deprived of the basic necessities which are the staple requirements of a good school environment. This is a serious matter which needs to be addressed by the countryâs administrative responsibilities. As the students donât get the basic requirements to fulfill their years of education they are unable to compete in this world and hence are unable to change their future.
Private schools keep their teachers in check:
Although expensive, private schools keep a complete check on the studentâs education. They are focused on maintaining their rank as one of the most sought for schools when it comes to Board examinations. They keep a complete check of the teaching staff so that students have a stable and a healthy environment to study and score. However, this is not the case with most Government schools which donât keep any check whatsoever in the education of under privileged students whose parents canât afford to send their kids to a private school.
There is a serious need for a complete reevaluation of the education system of India, where privatization in the field of education has created a seriously high level of inequality among the competing students. Because of the hopeless situation of Government schools parents are now spending huge amounts of money to get their kids educated in private schools. In a country which promised free education till the age of 14, this is a shocking situation. This has created a very obvious class difference in people where a government school education is now looked down upon by people.
