A workshop on ‘Vedas’ titled ‘Ancient Indian Knowledge Systems’ was held at the Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay). The workshop was held to educate students on four Vedas that were “acquired from God”.

Howe ever the workshop was converted to lecture series amidst protests from the students as well as faculty members. It has been told that the organizers didn’t have the required permissions.

The workshop/ series of lectures would continue for 7 days from Dec 3rd to Dec 9th 2016.

IIT (B) Director, Devang Khakhar refused to make any comment on this.

There is still no clarity on who were organizers of the event. There were a few names on the flyer of the event program. Out of 6 names that were mentioned in the flyer four are not part of IIT-B.

Student organization of IIT (B) “Kranthi” said that “some organizations from outside the institute were trying to utilize the space on the campus to conduct workshops.

They also said that “the institute was “in the know” about this workshop in the campus and all the procedures have been adhered to in allowing this event”
