In a recent decision of introducing major reforms in the UGC, education institutions who have submitted the fraudulent data to the ministry will be facing a legal trial. If done, then ministry will also be stopping all kind grants to the institutions. Ministry took the decision in order to make the accreditation process more clear and transparent.

- According to the reports the ministry is also working on a criterion under which more autonomy will be granted to the institutions whose performance is better.
- "Such institutes will get more freedom in introducing new courses or their syllabi. However, the process of deciding which institute is a better performing one may also depend on the data related to it," officials said
- Also, in recent meeting it was decided to focus more on the data capture in comparison to the physical inspections.
In addition to this, during the speech, Arun Jaitley also made an announcement to introduce new reforms in University Grants Commission (UGC) for higher educations.Last month, Union budget 2017-2018 was presented by Arun Jaitley during which he said that in coming years the main focus of the government will be on energizing the youth and in creating new jobs.
This is evident as UGC has already passed the new set of regulations for setting up the universities and according to reports, 20 world class institutions will be set up in India very soon.
