United States has always been the preferred country for Indian students who wish to study abroad. As per the latest report of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Nov 2016, US continues to be the preferred destination this year as well with 206,582 students currently pursuing education there. However China tops the list with 378,986 students who are currently pursuing their education in the state.

Some more highlights of the reports are facts that across an estimated 8,697 schools in the country, over 1.23 million international students on F (Academic) or M (Vocational) visa statuses are currently studying. Apart from Asian countries which comprise more than 47% of international students, 62,077 students were natives of Saudi Arabia, making up almost 20% of the total in the state. 14% growth was registered with most students in STEM courses (Science Technology engineering and Mathematics) as per the figures released on Thursday by the officials, in which these courses were opted by more than 83% of Indian students. 450,000 out of total 514,000 international students of STEM were from India, China and other Asian countries. China, India and South Korea send the largest numbers of students for STEM courses.

Over the last 2 years, good increase in numbers for STEM courses has been recorded in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Virginia, whereas the highest number of international students for subjects like business and engineering are seen flocking California, New York and Texas. Students from Asian countries have always shown interest in studying overseas. Students are always excited to explore new subjects, learn new values and cultivate good habits from various states.
