The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) said that no paper admit card will be issued for this year's civil services main examination. These are scheduled to begin from Friday.
But this doesn't mean that there will be no admit cards, candidates need to download their e-admit cards and take a printout of it.
In order to select officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), UPSC conducts examination in three stages i.e. preliminary, main and interview. The main examination will be conducted from Dec 18 to 23 at 23 centers.
UPSC has issued a press release stating that candidate's e-admit cards have been uploaded at their website www.upsc.gov.in. The candidates need to download their e-admit cards and take printouts. It's necessary as candidates will have to present these printouts at the venue allocated to them during examination.
Thus, with issuance of e-cards, there is no need for paper admit cards to be issued confirmed the commission.
Candidates are also advised to carry an identical photograph, in case the photograph on e-admit card is not visible or available. This is to be accompanied with an identity proof like valid identity card, Aadhar card, voter identity card, driving license, and passport etc. to the venue of the examination.
Results of the civil services preliminary examination were declared on October 12 and around 15000 candidates have qualified this year.
The most shocking fact of the exam was that almost 9, 45,908 had applied for the exam but only 4.63 lakh actually appeared and wrote it on August 23. This is only 49 per cent of the total applicants.
