The state of Uttar Pradesh has topped in terms of successful IIT applicants with 14.82 per cent students of the total who qualified to IIT belong to the state. Out of 25,566 students, 12.49 per cent students hail from Jaipur, Rajasthan. A number of students who qualified the exam have been found to belong to a Hindi dominant background.
Other states from which IIT has got students are enlisted below:
- 8.85 per cent students have qualified for IIT from Maharashtra.
- 7.42 per cent students have made it to IIT from Bihar.
- The students who have qualified from Rajasthan belong to all variety of boards, namely, RBSE, CBSE ICSE and IB.
"Most of the schools have adopted an integrated system by preparing students for IITs. It has provided an ease for students to take up competitive exams in the highly educative environment," explains Damodar Goyal of Society for Private Unaided School in Rajasthan, how a huge number of students qualified from Jaipur.
Three students from Jaipur have made it to the top 10 club for IIT qualifiers, this year.
According to the data, this year, 12 students from Rajasthan including seven from Jaipur and four from Kota made it to the list of top 100 students of JEE advanced.
Telangana appears as the leader on the list of boards from which the most number of students qualified for JEE. Maharashtra is the next on the list, followed by the Rajasthan Board.
