Indians are making their country proud as some of them won Facebook's global Hackathon finals 2015. It was a team of four called as Team Tartanium including SRM University alumni Sumanth Reddy Pandugula, current graduate student at University of Illinois at Chicago, and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) students: Avi Romanoff, Nikhil Choudhary and Tiffany Jiang.

For this competition, hackers from all over the world were invited to Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park. It was a three day event with 78 finalists forming 21 teams from 11 countries.

Team Tartanium developed a portal called Onreel.news. This was used in tracking stories around the world in real time by direct witnesses through videos. As instagram videos were uploaded, markers appear on the map. The catch was the the dots would allow anyone to see recent location of people through hashtags. So, basically clicking on a hashtag brings up a gallery of relevant Instagram videos, in order of most recent upload, in a grid format.

The member of team Tartanium, Sumanth is a computer science student at SRM University. He has spent his final undergraduate semester at CMU, working on a research project as, SRM University and CMU have a collaboration on the MSIT Embedded Software Engineering programme. He, thereafter, went to University of Illinois for his masters.
