'Teachers' Lab', a unique offering to 30 young graduates and professionals provides an opportunity to transform today's teaching methods and culture. This innovative program will bestow young graduates and professionals to revolutionize the fundamental way to teach, interact, relate and ultimately impact the lives of children. These dynamic change-makers will address the inequities in schools, create meaningful classrooms and make significant inroads into early childhood education.

These fellowships, offered in different subjects, are guided by the belief that teaching is more than just getting children to meet minimum levels of literacy and numeracy. Fellows will undergo an initial training period (2 months to 12 months) followed by a teaching period of 2 to 3 years.

Commenting on 'Teachers' Lab', Ms. Vidya Shankar, Trustee, Shriram Foundation said, "We take pride in bringing this unique 'training and teaching' model which allows fellows to translate their formal education into an enhanced classroom experience for children."

She added, "We are confident that this program would influence a wider audience from successful businessmen to young graduates to switch over to education thereby altering the direction of education in the country."

Post the initial training, Teaching Fellows will be placed in Schools supported by Shriram Foundation across Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Fellows will be involved not only in transforming the lives of the children but also learn to navigate the array of administrative and academic issues that are inherent in schools.

Who can apply?

Those with an inherent passion, strong commitment to student achievement and enhancing the lives of students in underserved communities can apply. They could be high-achieving recent college graduates, social workers, tutors and students who wish to share their passion of learning with children. You may be a successful businessman or an engineer, and wish to give back as a teacher working with students.
