IIT-Kharagpur recently witnessed a visit from Google CEO Sunder Pichai and he interacted with the students on various subjects, including his success mantras. The event 'A journey back to the past to inspire the future' which was conducted in an open theatre on the campus and streamed live by Google was attended by more than 3,500 students.
Pichai had announced Digital Unlocked programme which is helpful to small and medium scale enterprises for online transactions. He encouraged students getting lower grades and said results are not everything and even he had received a C grade in one paper.
The interesting facts Sundar Pichai told about himself:
·Talking about his language while in IIT-Kharagpur, he narrated an incident when the mess was shut down because of his rude language when he used the words ‘Abe Saale’ unknowingly.
·He expressed his regret for not allowing students in India to try different options and to follow their passions.
·While talking about Bollywood, he said to the audience that while in college, he had liked many actresses but now Deepika Padkone is his favorite.
·Talking about sports, he said he likes cricket and enjoys watching Virat Kohli play in all forms of matches.
·Today students need to develop other required skills along with studies, which is important and skill of writing is essential, advised Pichai to students.
·He revealed that, “I got bad grades while in IIT during my first year and I had worked hard for the next three years to improve my grades.”
·Indian digital market has huge scope and it is still at the development stage. He advised the startup companies to build better future to compete with MNCs.
·He told the audience that the Founder of Infosys, Narayan Murthy is his ideal and he always respects the people who make India proud.
