As the entrance examinations and admission season for different technical and professional courses are going to start soon, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra has warned students to stay away from unrecognized and fake universities that offer bogus degrees showing false affiliations. The DTE also mentioned that it is the responsibility of parents and students to check the recognition of the college before seeking in the admission, as told by Subhash Mahajan, Director of DTE Maharashtra.

Mr. Mahajan also added that the students and parents could also check the list of affiliated institutes and courses on the official website of DTE, Maharashtra. If students are unable to access the website, they can call the DTE regional directorates or helpline numbers.

Another senior official from DTE said that “it is always better to warn the students before they start their hunt for a good college. They always look for the fancy claims and get floored by fake colleges. Many a times it becomes a sham and turns out to be headache for us”.

Most of the institutes and universities have already announced the admission for academic year 2017 and students have started getting information regarding various universities through different means. It has become a common practice of DTE to make an announcement and warn students about such frauds every year. This practice helps save precious time, money and efforts of both parents and students and mainly helps prevent unexpected career roadblocks arising due to fake degrees in the future.

For more information regarding the affiliation of the universities, students can go on the website http://www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in  and check the list.
