TOI report featuring the carelessness of CBSE in totaling the marks of students of board exam triggered a shout among parents and children for extending the window for the marks verification. The reason for the outcry is the report, which presented the difference of 400% in the original marks and the corrected total marks of the students.

Students now, are not only demanding the extension of the window for marks verification but, are also CBSE to re-open the old traditional re-evaluation process and to provide the photocopies of the evaluated answer sheets without any extra charges.

The deadline for filing online application for the photocopies of the evaluated answer sheets ended on Monday but many are now saying that CBSE should extend this date.

Shanti, Anil Kumar's daughter scored 90 plus marks in English, Chemistry and Physics but her Math score remains only 68. However, following the teacher's advice she did not go for the verification process as this could hold her admission in various universities.

"We didn't go for verification, fearing it would hold up her admission prospects. Now, after we got to know of the goof-ups, we think we should have applied. I hope in the interest of students, CBSE reopens the window for verification," said Shanthi Anil Kumar.

Sharan said that his brother scored single digit marks in Economics, Business Studies and Accounts. "Going by past experience we thought there would be no changes post-verification, but now we have got to know that students who had got 9 marks saw them increased to 45 after verification. Now we have doubts over the entire process of evaluation by CBSE," said Sharan.

These were just few stories of the students who are angry over CBSE's attitude towards checking the exam sheets and in an online poll more than 70% of the respondents feel that students have the right to seek re-evaluation and examine the answer sheets.
