More than 10 lakh students appeared for the JEE Main exam this year to get admission into the premier engineering colleges in the country. To the surprise of the students, they weren't provided with the carbon copies of their answer sheets at the end of the examination. The exam was held at multiple centres across over 150 cities.

The same fate was dealt out to the students who appeared for the online version of the examination on 10th and 11th of April.

Interestingly, in contrast to the last year, the students would need to submit a fee of Rs 1,000 per question if they wish to raise an objection to any question or the official answer key.

According to the CBSE, the official answer keys will be out on 18th April whereas the candidates would be able to see their scores on 27th April. Students will get a period of 9 days to submit their objections.

According to a professor at IIT Delhi, "Why should students pay such an exorbitant fee for mistakes made by CBSE. Answer keys should be released within 24-72 hours as students will still remember their own answers."

The JEE examination is conducted by CBSE and is open to the top 25% percentile students from class 12th who have secured more than 75% marks.
