At the 7th Annual Global Business School Network Conference, hosted by the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad June 11 - 14 at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi, prominent speakers from India and around the globe will share their thoughts on the conference theme: Making the Connection: Management Education Powering Development.
Delegates from business schools in over 30 countries will be present, along with leaders in development, education and industry to join the discussion on how the economic and social progress of the developing world can be promoted through an improvement in management education. The conference is sponsored by HDFC, Godrej Industries, Mahindra Mahindra, GMAC, IFC, Goldman Sachs10,000 Women, and the Chandaria foundation, with additional support from SIFE International and online media partner MBA Universe.
"Quality management education that combines international best practice with local relevance is essential for India, and indeed the rest of the developing world, to build the businesses, entrepreneurs and services our country needs to move forward in today's global economy. This conference is an ideal opportunity for Indian educators to meet with leaders in management education from around the world to build partnerships, and share their experiences and knowledge. I am proud of the role IMT Ghaziabad has taken as a leader in internationalizing management education in India and look forward to a productive and enlightening conference with GBSN," said Shri Kamal Nath, Union Cabinet Minister of Urban Development, who will be speaking during the opening ceremony on June 12.
"I could not be more excited about the impressive line up of speakers we will have at the GBSN conference this year, from Minister Kamal Nath to the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women entrepreneur Seema Kholsa to the deans from prominent international business schools coming to India from all over the world. Our organization was founded on the principle that management education is critical for the developing world to move forward, and also on the concept that by sharing ideas, resources and talents, we can make a real difference in people's lives. Each of the people who will present at the GBSN conference contribute to this important conversation about how good management is fundamental to the success of economic and social endeavors," said Guy Pfeffermann, founder and CEO of the Global Business School Network.
"IMT was founded with a vision for management education leading to social transformation. IMT is delighted to join hands with GBSN to lead an honest dialogue to focus on a simple topic: how management education has and will improve the lives of millions, holistically and sustainably," said Dr. Bibek Banerjee, Director of IMT Ghaziabad. "In the backdrop of increasing international flows of goods and services, capital, people and information, a universal education with a local flavour will truly satisfy the needs of the world and its economy. Keeping this in mind, we at IMT have always been enthusiastic to build bridges and break barriers by forming international linkages and collaborations with institutes all over the world."
The conference is being held in India for the first time this year, allowing delegates the opportunity to not only network and share best practice around management education, but also see first hand how business in India is innovating and solving management challenges in various ways.
"The Indian economy's potential will be realised if India improves its abilities to get things done. In short, India needs better managers to lead teams, design program strategies and implement projects on time. Indian management schools must produce more practical managers. Moreover India needs ethical managers with motivation to improve the world for everyone, not merely their personal bottom-lines. The discipline of Management must be a vocation with higher aspirations, not a mere calculus of numbers," said Arun Maira of the Planning Commission of India, who will be the keynote speaker on June 13, a day that will focus on Industry in India.
