NAGPUR: Seven new CBSE schools shall be started near power plants by the Maharashtra government to cater to the children of Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) employees.
The Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Phadnis made this announcement here on Sunday. He was here to lay the foundation stone of the 5th branch of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School at Koradi Temple township, about 10 kilometers from here.
He said that the children of MAHAGENCO employees and students from nearby villages shall have 60 reservations in the proposed schools.
He said that he holds Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in very high regards, and the school is doing a tremendous work in terms of inculcating quality education and Indian values. He also said that he has posted a request outside his office to not seek recommendation for admission in its schools. This shows the immense reputation the schools carry across the country.
Maharashtra energy minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule who is also Nagpur district guardian minister, former MP Banwarilal Purohit, BVB's Nagpur Kendra chairman, and Ramtek MP Krupal Tumane were also present at the function.
Bhawankule said that a proposed tourist attraction-cum-watersports park is to come up near the school on the Nagpur-Bhopal-Chhindwara road at an estimated cost of Rs 600 crore.
The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Educational Trust has a strength
of 395 institutions across the globe through its 122 centres, with a total
enrolment of 2.20 lakh students, and boasts of a force of 14,000
teachers.
In Nagpur itself, the group has a total of seven institutions, including four existing
schools, with 11,540 students and over 600 teachers.
