Students aspiring to make a career in architecture are in for some good news as the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its nod to introduce the School of Planning and Architecture Bill, 2014 in the Parliament. The proposed bill aims to bring all three Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs) within the ambit of the School of Planning and Architecture Bill, 2014. The Bill would comply with the Government policies on reservations from time to time. The aforementioned Act will empower these Schools toward degrees through an Act of Parliament.

This will further strengthen the already esteemed position the institute occupies among colleges imparting courses in architecture, bringing it in tow with centres of excellence such as IITs and NITs. Raising the bar in such a manner will help the college nurture geniuses who would go on to contribute immensely to the field of architecture and planning.

However, to ensure accountability and transparency in the working of these institutes, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India will audit all the money spent from the public exchequer. Besides, the Annual Report and Audited Accounts of each SPA will be placed before the Parliament.
