Experts at a seminar on safety of children in schools said that all the stakeholders should work together to create a safe environment for the children in schools.
The seminar 'Child first, Safety first' was organized by the Bengal Chamber's Education Committee in association with 'Early Childhood Association' (ECA).
Experts said that Child Welfare Boards, school authorities, psychologists, experts, parents and peers should make contributions to their fullest for increasing the safety of the children in schools.
The main aim of the seminar was to find the possible steps which can help in identifying the problem, prevent mishaps and ensure the safety of the children and can increase the perception that schools are safe place for learning and gaining knowledge.
In the seminar some of the recent incidents, happened in the school premises were also mentioned which have triggered the concern among parents, guardians and citizens.
It was also pointed in the seminar how some children in the schools bully other children and how the physical and sexual threats go unheard of.
Such incidents leave a deep scar on the tender minds of the kids. This can further lead to behavioural outbursts and rise in negative traits which can hamper the normal development of the children.
The panel in the seminar consisted of Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, Territorial Head, Early Childhood Association Suman Sood, ECA Secretary Asha Verma, Aprajita Rai (IPS), socialist and eminent dancer Alokananda Roy.
