The students of the Government schools in Mumbai are in for a surprise. Reliance Life Insurance, in partnership with the Room to Read, has proposed setting up 100 libraries in the government primary schools across the entire country.
The company is hoping to impact more than 10,000 students through this step. 'Room to Read' is a non profit organization with global footprints. It aims at promoting and achieving gender equality in schools throughout the country by the method of setting up resourceful libraries.
"Education, like insurance, protects the long-term future of the family. Libraries provide children an environment of knowledge and inculcate habits of learning and curiosity amongst the young minds," was the official statement from Reliance Life.
The first of these 100 libraries was open on this children's day in a Mumbai based school.
The first year of this program will witness libraries being established in the municipal run schools across Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Uttrakhand.
