Richard Ivey School of Business, Canada's top business school today announced that Ivey Publishing, the global leader in publishing international business case studies has accomplished a significant milestone of developing more than 200 India focused cases. This repository of current, comprehensive and real-world cases recognizes Ivey with the world's largest collection of Indian Case Studies for national and global consumption. India's high growth markets are challenging the status quo for companies in India, where business success and leadership require a high degree of innovation, tenacity to overcome unique challenges, and the willingness to exhibit a tremendous entrepreneurial zeal. Capturing leadership positions in India's hypercompetitive marketplace requires well-educated and highly trained senior and junior managers; as the repository of India's largest business case collection, the Richard Ivey School of Business is at the forefront to helping Indian corporates achieve their goals of competitive supremacy.
Ivey is committed to elevate the quality of Indian cases and change the landscape of management education in India based on real-world insights for its case study methodology. Ivey is adding almost one new India centric business case every week through its own faculty and its collaboration with premier business schools (Indian School of Business - ISB, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore - IIM-B: and the Management Development Institute - MDI Gurgaon). The cases are built on Ivey's rich knowledge and prowess as the world's largest producer of Asian based cases.
Ariff Kachra, Assistant Professor of Strategy and Managing Director of India Development, Richard Ivey School of Business said, "This achievement is a great example of our strategy in action. India's strong and long-term economic growth has a great potential to offer the world insights about business context in India. These cases will fill the need for India-specific content for the growing number of business schools and help faculty and students understand the business issues, challenges and opportunities in India.
Ivey's high quality India cases span across a variety of business areas ranging from strategy, leadership, marketing, organizational behavior, entrepreneurship, and branding among other highly relevant functional disciplines. The strategic partnerships with leading Indian business schools will foster new initiatives and have a profound effect on teaching business in India on Ivey's learning about the country.
"Our strategy is to be a knowledge partner in India. Ivey's strategy in India is based on four pillars: case writing, research, executive development and programs. The driving force of our strategy is to be a knowledge partner in Indian management education at a multiplicity of institutions. This strategy in India is helping reshape our global perspective and offers an exceptional opportunity that is redefining Ivey as a global business school", Ariff further added.
In keeping with the knowledge partnership strategy, Ivey is also teaching Indian faculty to write and teach with cases. By focusing on developing compelling India based cases to support discussions on business theory in the classroom, Ivey is also committed to mentoring high-potential faculty in case teaching and writing through a comprehensive process of case development - from generating ideas to publishing case studies globally. Ivey has so far trained over 360 Indian faculty in case teaching and writing and is on track to cross the 500 mark within this year.
The top five India-based cases include:
-- Infosys: The Challenge of Global Branding
-- Eli Lilly in India: Rethinking the Joint Venture Strategy
-- Dabbawallahs of Mumbai
-- Swatch and the Global Watch Industry
-- Louis Vuiton in India
Continuing to propagate its popular case methodology in India, Ivey hosted two successful India-wide case-writing competitions in collaboration with ISB. The purpose of the case-writing competition, which was initiated in 2010, is to increase the number of India-focused business cases offering insight on major Indian companies and provide a platform for mentorship of Indian case writers by Ivey and ISB faculty. Together with ISB, Ivey also offer open workshops for faculty across India every year. Ivey has conducted around nine case workshops, webinars and information sessions with ISB. The recently announced partnership with MDI Gurgaon will further augment Ivey's goal in developing India focused business cases and distribute them both in India and globally.
All cases published are accessible and distributed worldwide through Ivey Publishing ( https://www.iveycases.com/)
