In an address to the UK-Tech Summit in which the British PM was also present, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi said that “Education is vital for Indian students and Britain must relax student visa rules, and this will encourage greater mobility among youth”.

“India and Britain must encourage greater mobility and participation among the youth for education and research opportunities”, added Modi

British PM had arrived to India for a first trade deal post the Brexit. She said “UK has a ‘good system’ for applications. She added that “Nine out of 10 visa applications from India are accepted”.

“Our visa system ensures that “the best and the brightest are able to come to United Kingdom”, said the British PM.

The visa figures show that more work visas are issued to India than US, Australia, Canada and China put together.

As per new UK policy Indian students are required to return after completing their studies. This move has resulted in reduction in enrollment in British Universities by almost 50%.

Britain is soon going to launch “Registered Traveller Scheme” This scheme would be for those who frequently visit UK.

“We want to attract more business man from India that can fuel growth in both the countries”, added the British PM.
