Certification course in Korean language is now available at the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University for registrations and initially only 30 students of the current academic session can enroll in the program.

Vice chancellor of the university said that the course will prove helpful to the students in providing employment opportunities at the leading Korean companies.

Apart from being available as a certificate course, the course in Korean language will also be available as CBCS (choice based credit system) for the students pursuing professional course in the Engineering and Management.

On the occasion of inaugurating the program, Prof Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of JMI University laid emphasis on the deepening relations between the India and South Korea and said that with this course not only students will become proficient in the Korean language but also, will find the course to be immensely helpful when looking for jobs in reputable Korea companies.


He further said that the demand for the Koren Language can be gauged from the fact that nearly 400 students applied for the 30 seats of the course.

Mr Hai Kwang Lee, Charge d'affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, said "the program was a significant step in promoting Korean language studies in India. He said that South Korea-India relations are gearing for a major transformation and that his country hopes to play a leading role in accelerating India's economic development as its long standing developmental partner".
