The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has started the registration process for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT). Candidates who wish to appear in the exam can now visit the official website-- icaiexam.icai.org-- for the registrations.

The last date for applying is April 26, 2018.

ICAI revised the syllabus of the CPT exam last year in order to include contemporary topics such as Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the course.

After passing the exam, candidates will be able to register themselves for the Intermediate (IPC) Course.

Session for the Exam

The exam will be conducted by the ICAI in two sessions:

Morning session: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
Section A – Fundamentals of Accounting
Section B – Mercantile Laws

Afternoon session: 2 pm to 4 pm
Section C – General Economics
Section D – Quantitative Aptitude

Exam pattern

ICAI will conduct the exam in the pen-paper mode and the exam will be o four hour duration. The exam will be objective in nature and for the wrong answers candidates will be awarded with the negative marks.

Exam fee

Candidates can submit the exam fee by using either visa or master credit/debit card/rupay card/net banking.

Fee for centers in India: Rs 1,000
Fee for centers in Kathmandu (Nepal): Rs 1,700
Fee for centers in Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai and Muscat: $ 300

Last date and time for login creation: April 26 (5M30 pm)
Last date for registration and making payment without late fee: April 26
Late fee deposition begins: April 27
CPT examination: June 17
Results: Around July
