Re-writing may take time this year resulting in students of class XI studying old textbooks in the session 2016-17. Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has cleared that they will be in a position to complete the rewriting of textbooks for Class XI not before later in the year.
The process of re-writing was to be taken care of by State education department from Class I to XII for session 2016 onward. It takes two-three months time while reducing basic standard processes involved. This started on August 30, 2015, for classes I to VIII, the rewriting work was carried out by the State Institute of Education and Training (SIERT) in Udaipur, which got over last week. Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) was to re-write for class IX and XI. It was decided to keep the old textbooks for Class X and XII, for the session 2016-17.
As per chairman of RBSE, B L Chaudhary re-writing is a serious job and especially for senior classes, it needs to be done carefully by proof- reading several times. He said that they are working continuously but won't be able to carry out the task on time. The Rajasthan State Textbook Board (RSTB) has received 13 revised books out of 43 books of Class XI. 30 books are still awaited and for class IX, 14 books have been sent for printing out of total 16 books.
After re-writing textbooks, they will be proof-read again before printing. After sending for print, it takes around three-four months to reach every senior secondary school.
A senior officer said that usually these should have reached all depots by end of February to reach till panchayat level in another 30-50 days.
