The state Government of Rajasthan has decided to do away with RPET (Rajasthan pre engineering test), which used to be the qualification test for the students to take admissions to state’s engineering colleges.
A CAC (Centralized Admission Committee) has been constituted by the state government having members from numerous fields of technical education. The committee would be responsible to oversee the admissions for the 2015-2016 session.
According to the newly devised system, 50% seats in the state colleges would be filled on the basis of the JEE merit list, whereas the remaining 50% seats would be allotted keeping in mind the merit list formed on the basis of class XII results.
Kalicharan Saraf, the state’s education minister said 15% seats would be under the management quota and another 15% would be offered to be students coming from outside the state. The remaining 70% would be up for grabs for the students from Rajasthan.
According to him, this new model of admission is much more time efficient than the earlier arrangement.
