There is good news for the candidates who are looking forward to pursue PhD and MPhil from the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).
According to the latest data mentioned by the university, the competition for the seats just got lesser.
The new data indicates a big increase in the vacant seats from the numbers which were officially announced by the university three weeks ago.
The revised data shows the availability of the 2800 seats for the PhD and 400 seats for the MPhil, which shows the increase of fifty percent in the number of seats compared to data released in the July.
The authorities of the SPPU have also extended the last date of application from August 14 to August 21. This is done to accommodate the students from other universities whose results have been declared late.
“Actually, the results of a lot of universities have been delayed, especially those of the University of Mumbai, because of which students who may be desiring to take admissions into MPhil or PhD courses may be not be able to do so. That's why we have decided to extend the deadline by one week for them. All other dates remain the same,” said Uttam Chavan, assistant registrar, SPPU.
The numbers of vacancies are significantly less than the last year but, officials are still expecting 15000 applications from aspiring candidates.
