Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Sunday said that schools will be constructed to impart primary education in mother tongue and it is upto their parents to decide whether they want their children to study in that school or not.

BJP believes in imparting primary education in mother tongue, but it is not under the party to withdraw grants in aid that has been given to 132 English medium schools run by churches on Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch's demand, said the Chief Minister on addressing Mahila Marcha Workers.

GOA's Chief Minister point of view

"Around 900 teachers are teaching the 127 schools to which Congress had given grant in aid. The government cannot withdraw the grant just because demands have been raised to do so. We will build new schools which will impart good quality primary education in mother tongue and then parents can decide where their children should go for education," the chief minister said.
