President of India Pranab Mukherjee will give away the National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievements to 42 children from across the country. The awards will be given on the occasion of Children’s day which is celebrated across the nation on the 14th November each year.

National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievements are given to admire and acknowledge various projects undertaken by the students across the country. These awards will be given to child welfare institutions too for the exemplary work.

There are three award categories:

  1. National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievements
  2. National Awards for Child Welfare
  3. Rajiv Ghandhi Manav Seva Award

The recipients of the awards would be from following categories:

  1. Paralympics Swimmer
  2. A Chess Player
  3. An equestrian
  4. Students with interest in Music
  5. Technological Innovations

Shubhendu Kumar Sahu a 14 year student from Odissa will be one of the recipients of the award. Sahu comes from Somapur Project Upper Primary School in Ganjam district. Sahu has received number of awards at both the state and national level competitions. Sahu has developed an innovative device named “Gift for Farmers”. The device helps in sowing, tilling of soil, and sprinkling of pesticides, cutting and processing of paddy crops. He is also the winner in creative writing.

National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievements will include a gift cheque as well as medal.

Gold Medalists would be awarded with a cheque of Rs. 20,000.00 each

Silver Medalists would be awarded with a cheque of Rs. 10,000.00 each

Rajiv Ghandhi Manav Seva Award includes a cash prize of Rs. 1, 00,000.00 along with certificate and silver plaque. This year the award is been given to three persons.

National Awards for Child welfare is been given to five institutions and three individuals. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 3, 00,000.00 to the institutions and Rs. 1, 00,000.00 to individuals.
