Chief Minister of New Delhi Arvind Kejriwal called upon the President of India Pranab Mukherjee yesterday. The meeting was the missing JNU student and the President promised action after Kejriwal urged him to ask the central government to step up efforts to trace the missing JNU student.

The JNU student has been missing since last three weeks. Kejriwal said that “The President had promised to seek a report from the Home Ministry and the Jawahar Lal Nehru University and assured all support”.

It may be recalled the JNU student Najeeb Ahmed, went missing from the JNU campus on October 15 after a tussle with the alleged members of ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad). However ABVP has denied any involvement in the disappearance of the student.

In a letter written to the President, Kejriwal said that “As a visitor to the JNU, I sought your intervention in the series of the events that have happened in the University. Kejriwal said that “He was shocked that the police didn’t question the students who had attacked Najeeb until November 4th, 2016.

The Chief Minister showed concern about the law and order situation in the national capital.

“Since ABVP students are involved, perception is being built that the Delhi Police is not taking any action against them. Even the Vice Chancellor’s role is also problematic”. Kejriwal added. He also accused the VC of not taking action against the ABVP students.

The police had cracked down the student protest at India Gate Memorial.
