The UGC has launched a portal"” www.ugc.ac.in for the students where they can register their grievances online, send reminders and check action-taken status in connection with their concerns. It will basically help the students to register their complaints of the problems encountered in the admission process, the reservation policy discrimination on the basis of caste and even non-declaration of results. HRD Minister Smriti Irani launched the portal.
The HRD Ministry in its statement has communicated that the Complaints regarding victimization of students, sexual harassment cases, and lack of amenities and non-payment of scholarships or fellowships can also be filed online.
The portal will ensure that there is a transparency in the admission process and the unfair practices in higher education institutions are stopped. It aims to develop a mechanism for sorting out the various problems faced by the students by making the admission process transparent.
A nodal officer has been appointed by every university who will be accountable for the issues of the affiliated colleges under the university.
The students after registering their problems can avail the email ID, cell phone number and other contact details of the concerned officer.
If required the officer can also revert back to the complainant with the contact details submitted online.
The effort of the officers must be to provide assistance aptly and timely. For the final resolution In case the officer neglects the issues automatic reminders will be sent every two weeks.
