The Indian educational institutes aren't known for their love for technology. So when the Delhi University gave a chance to the PhD researchers to give their viva through Skype, it raised many eyebrows, albeit for the better.
The varsity has likewise made it obligatory that the proposal put together by the PhD researchers pass a "literary theft check" and obtained specific programming projects for it.
"Prior the students needed to show up in individual for their viva for PhD programs. In this way, the ones who had finished their theory and were offered any open doors abroad, they needed to go back for the procedure. Presently this need has been done away with," a senior varsity authority said.
"The students willing to show up for viva through skype or different methods of videoconferencing need to educate their particular offices ahead of time. Also, if certain master on meeting board is not able to come in individual, then the viva will be orchestrated through comparable modes," he included.
Taking after orders from the University Grants Commission (UGC), to dishearten written falsification in PhD theory, DU has made it compulsory that every one of the postulations submitted will be subjected to copyright infringement check utilizing specific programming projects.
"There are sure virtual products which are accessible over the web as well yet they don't yield nitwit verification results. We are getting sure particular programming projects to guarantee the researchers can't do any cut-glue work," the authority said.
The varsity has corrected its PhD statute as per UGC Regulation, 2009 (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD degree)and UGC Regulation, 2010 (Minimum capabilities for Appointment of instructors and other scholarly staff in colleges and universities and measures for the support of principles in Higher Education).
