A good news for students taking standard 10 and 12
examinations from UP Board as the Uttar Pradesh government will most probably
introduce an "open book system" during exams from the next session.
It is a system which is popular in Europe but new to India. On December 18, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had a meeting with the education department and he asked the ministers to submit a plan for conducting "open book examinations". Ministers include minister for secondary education Balram Yadav and principal secretary Jitendra Kumar.
The idea to introduce "open book examination" is due to high rate of copying during exams in the state which has concerned the chief minister. Mafia has not even left the education industry destroying the education system and career of students simultaneously. He researched the open book system followed in many countries and has safely concluded that this will definitely help in keeping mass scale copying under control, confirmed a senior officer present in the meeting.
In order to implement the open book system from academic year 2016-17, CM asked ministers Balram Yadav and Jitendra Kumar to submit an action plan. He instructed so, while he was monitoring the progress of the education department on Friday.
It is also striking to notice that UP board witnesses the highest number of students who give secondary and higher secondary exams in the world but who also do mass scale copying.
