Starting Friday, teachers and principal of Mumbai University who will assess the answer sheets of winter semester exams will undergo compulsory training in onscreen assessment process.

Examiners from city and suburban Mumbai will be trained at the Fort Campus. For the examiners based in the Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Palghar, Wada and Jawahar, the workshops will be held in the different areas of the city.

According to the master list prepared by the university, around 14000 teachers are eligible for the assessment training and attending the training is compulsory for the teachers according to the circular issued on Tuesday.


A professor from the mass-media department said that the training is essential for the teachers. “Last time around, teachers had rushed through the training and were not very conversant with the software. The training comes timely,” he said.

This training is also a part of the reforms introduced by the Board of Examinations (BoE) after the delay in declaring the results of the summer semester.

In order to prevent the mistakes of the summer semester happening again, the board has introduced a series of reforms. Apart from improving the infrastructure, BoE has prepared a master database of the assessors, courses, examinations, subjects and credits and linkages have been streamlined.
