The Delhi High Court has asked the Central Government about their land policy for the private schools to which the land has been given on the concessional rates to run the schools.
Hearing a plea Justice Manmohan issued notices to the HRD Ministry & the Urban Development ministry. The court wanted to know whether there was any neighborhood criterion for admissions in these schools.
A plea was filed against the notification of the Delhi Government that had asked 298 schools which were build on DDA land to accept admission forms based on neighborhood or distance criteria. The court wanted to seek the centre’s stand on this.
The court has also sought the stand from DDA & Land Development Office regarding the neighborhood criterion set by the AAP government for the admissions.
Earlier the court had passed an interim order allowing the parents to fill forms of various schools based on the criterion set by them and the AAP Government.
The court said that “the order have been passed to so that the admission process is not hampered and the scrutiny of the forms would be subject to further orders”.
The court also started hearing arguments of parents, schools, and other forums, who have challenged a condition which says admissions should be restricted to institutions’ locality.
