In order to ensure efficient implementation of the Right to Education Act, the Maharashtra Government is contemplating on the idea of linking the admission registration of the students with their Aadhar numbers.
According to the Government, a full-fledged campaign to make Aadhar cards for the students would be initiated from April 27th to 26th June.
The state government has directed the local administration to ensure that the students are issued their Aadhar cards within 60 days and that their UID numbers are linked, as planned, with their admission registration number.
The linkage will ensure that the students are properly tracked within the education system. This would ensure that the government has an eye on the students and the participation of the parents can also be assessed. The responsibility of this linkage has been given to the block education officers.
The government has also directed the local administration to publicise the event to increase participation.
