Negligence of railway costs DU student his exam

The Delhi High Court issued a notice against the Indian Railways for the incident wherein a student missed his exam because the train compartment for the disabled people was locked.

A little negligence from the Indian Railway costs a DU student his career. Vaibhav Shukla, a disabled student was travelling through Indian Railways to write his M.Phil exam for the DU University when the compartment of train for the disabled people got locked.

On the incident, the Delhi High Court issued a notice to the Indian Railway as the student missed his chance to appear for the exam due the negligence from the Indian Railways. For now the court has asked the Ministry of Railways, the North-Eastern Railways and DU to write their reply on the matter.


More about the case

  • Vaibhav is 100 percent visually challenged student. He had to reach Delhi for writing his M.Phil exam for the DU University. As his train arrived at the UP's Unnao Station, he went towards the coach reserved for the disabled people.
  • The gates of the compartment were locked. His brother and driver tried to open the gate but their efforts were of no use. Even the passengers inside the compartment did not open the door.
  • Shukla narrated the incident to the authorities of the railways but got a negative response in return.

Now, Delhi High court is helping shukla with the matter by writing to the DU to check all the possibilities of conducting the exam of Vaibhav so that he can get the admission into the university if, he passes the exam.
