The Vice President has said that voluntary services such as NSS and NCC should be made mandatory for the children from the school days. He said this as he was interacting with the volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS) who participated in the Republic Day Parade. Pointing out the importance of such services he said that participation in these services during schooldays helps children in developing the feeling of oneness, develop empathy and compassion.
Mr. Naidu also appreciated the commitment of the young students who participated in the parade for taking the community service at such a young age.
"By doing this you are realizing the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi who had said "the best way to find oneself is to lose oneself in the service of others"," he said.
He also said that true patriotism is when you serve the people in distress and asked the students to develop the habit of social from an early age. He also inspired the younger generation to live a life closer to nature. Talking about the growth of the nation he said that the participation of young minds in decision-making and development process is essential and inspired the children to become agents of change, economic growth and technological innovation.
