On June 4, the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) released the results of the exam and more than 30,000 students have qualified the exam. But the result of the exams were also a shocker for the thousands of students who have scored zero in drawing exam.

Council of Architecture (COA) has admitted that due to technical glitches errors have occurred on the website.

A student named Dyan Kavan Lobo from Mangaluru scored 0 in the drawing but has a score of 90 in aptitude paper. “A shock of my life that is. It can only happen if I would not have attempted any question in that paper. And I spent two years preparing only for NATA. I did not even take the JEE architecture entrance exam to apply to colleges with the JEE scores. Now, if the scores are not corrected and updated, I might lose a year,” he says.

Another student named Priya from Bengaluru scored zero in the drawing. “My daughter scored 95% in CBSE and 36 out of 70 in drawing paper in JEE architecture test. This is unbelievable. I mailed to the online test taker on Wednesday and got a reply that the results will not be updated. And when I called some of the members of COA, they admitted and assured that rectified results will be uploaded soon. And on Thursday, no one is taking calls and the website still showed erroneous results,” said her mother.

However, students have received the text from the COA in which the authority has apologized for the wrong scores and said that rectified scores will be available on June 6. In a second message, the authority mentioned June 7 as the final date for the rectified scores. A message on the official website also says June 7 as the date to download the scorecards with the rectified scores.

Online petitions, letters and e-mails have already been sent to the HRD ministry in this regard. Education said sources.

“We have examples of some students who have secured seven out of 80 in drawing in NATA and 54 out of 70 in JEE architecture. There could be two possibilities—either some really incompetent students have correct drawings or the drawing marks have been juxtaposed between good students and incompetent ones. How can the best students get zero in the drawing?” said Dion Dʼsa, who run Design Quotient Labs (a coaching center for design students).

Students who have qualified got SMS from NATA saying: “Kindly ignore the scorecard those who have downloaded today, the final scorecard will be available on 6th June 2018. You will get a communication to download the same. We regret the inconvenience caused.”
