On Thursday, union minister Najma Heptulla launched a scheme
called as "'Nai Manzil" for girls of the minority communities in the country.
It's a skill development scheme under which these girls will be imparted a three-month
skill development training in seven identified sectors relevant to the region
concerned.
As per Najma Heptulla, the girls will be trained in sectors like processing saffron and food, embroidery, computers (both software and hardware), tourism/hospitality, electronics and plumbing. They will also be given a stipend of Rs 4500 for this course. It has been already launched in three Madarsas for girls in Jammu and Kashmir. They will be provided training as per local requirements.
Najma further added that girls will be trained at a development centre in Kashmir University and Madarsa Shahi-i-Hamdan in Pampore and Madarsa Imam Sadique in Shadipur in Bandipora. Especially girls from economically poor background will be trained. They will also be given certificates from Sector Skill councils.
Nai Manzil has been launched for the first time in the state. It is a scheme for providing education and livelihood for the minority communities. Its main aim is to benefit those who dropped out of schools or are being taught in the community education institutions like Madrasas. So, this scheme will provide them formal education and skill training along with certificates. This scheme (which covers entire country) in turn will help them to seek employment and thus, better livelihood.
