As per a recent order from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the state Government appointed SIT must initiate requisite legal actions against 'Mr X'. Mr X is accused for submitting false and misleading documents in the case.

The order was passed by a bench consisting of Justice Alok Aradhe and chief justice A M Khanwilkar while they accepted an interim report submitted by a person tagged as 'Mr X', in connection with the MPPEB scam proceedings.

The High Court has ordered the SIT to find out the origin of the tampered documents and bring the involved bring to justice.

A petition was moved in the Delhi high court by Prashant Pandey, a computer expert (digital forensic engineer) by profession, under the name of Mr X. The petition alleged that while working for STF during the probe into the MPPEB scam, he became privy to certain information, which according to him, is damaging to highly-placed individuals within the government and administration in Madhya Pradesh.

The Delhi High court extended Mr X's security for 2 months and asked him to submit all the information regarding SIT and STF. Petitioner then submitted a duplicate set of all original documents, including a purported "original Excel sheet" retrieved from the computer of the main accused, Nitin Mohindra to the investigating agency.
