Ancient Indian knowledge, tradition, and practices will find more space in the textbooks of classes 6 to 10.

The books for the students of classes 6 to 10 have been restructured to add more information about the ancient Indian Philosophy, Ayurveda, yoga etc.

Last year, NCERT decided to review the textbooks of classes 6 to 10 and decided to implement the changes in the contents of the books. For quite a sometime political parties such as BJP and RSS have been demanding to add more information about country’s past in textbooks.

With new additions to the content, students will now have a better understanding of the glorious past of India.

According to the reports from the Indian express, a comparison between old and new books revealed that additional content is added not only in the textbooks of the History but also, in other textbooks such as science and Geography.

A senior official from the NCERT said that all the changes in the text books have been made according to the feedback received from the customers.

As of now, NCERT has made 1334 changes in the textbooks which include corrections and updating the new data. The National Curriculum Framework was drafted in 2005 and this is the first comprehensive review of the textbooks by the NCERT since then.
