Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday said "the government was not tinkering with the provisions for reservation or minority education institutions."
"We are not tinkering with any provision of Constitution, either in regard to reservation or minority education institution," Javadekar said in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
The debate was taken on National Education Policy in upper house but during the day Javadekar could not reply.
Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien said "the discussion could continue in the next session."
Javadekar said "the government will extend the time for submitting suggestions for the education policy." when members pressed for the response.
"We want suggestions from everybody. I will extend the date for submitting suggestions till September 15," Javadekar said.
He further said "We believe in democracy, we believe that education must give whatever is required to live life successfully."
