On Monday, Palale Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya was appointed as the new VC if the Mangalore University by the Governor and Chancellor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala. Yadapadithaya has nearly 33 years of experience in teaching and research and had also headed various statutory positions.
He graduated from the Mangalore University in 1982 with a gold medal in MCom and obtained his PhD from the same university in 1992 in the domain of consumer behaviour. As of now, he has successfully supervised 22 PhD scholars.
Currently, he is appointed as a professor of Commerce at Mangalore University. Speaking to TOI he said ‘I will continue all the best practices that previous eight vice-chancellors have ushered in while bringing about changes in areas that will help rebuild the brand of the university’.
It is also the first time that an academician from the university ascended to the post of VC. Talking about his immediate priorities he said that the main challenge is to go for the NAAC re-accreditation. “We are in the midst of NAAC reaccreditation and preparations are on in this regard. This is a real challenge,” he said.
