The long awaited semester 5 results of B.Com at the Mumbai University finally made their way to the notice boards on Thursday.
The students had to wait for 24 days to see their results. The results were originally supposed to be declared within a 45 day period, starting from the day the students wrote their exam. The exam was held on 28th November 2014.
The exam was written by over 64,000 students. At 65.28%, the passing rate stood similar to the 2013 examinations.
One of the major changes in the examination pattern was that the weightage of internal exams was reduced to 25 from the earlier 40. The change in the examination pattern to 75-25 formula hasn't had any impact on the pass percentage in the final results.
The highest grade of the examination, O, was achieved by slightly over 5% students. The grade scored by the highest proportion of students was 'A'. Close to 20% students managed to get an A.
According to Dinesh Bhonde, some results have been upheld by the University since their internal marks weren't sent to the university within the stipulated deadline.
When asked about the reason behind the delay in results, Madhu Nair, the Dean of Commerce cited the state elections as the reason. She quoted, "(Also) assessment and moderation had to be done along with lectures."
The results for TYBA and TYBSc are still pending. Bhonde said "The answer sheets for a couple of TYBSc subjects are yet to be evaluated. Some of the TYBA papers had been rescheduled to January, so results will take some time to be declared,"
