In a letter to the MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, suggested that MP government should enforce safety laws for the children going to the schools in MP. The letter was written against the backdrop of a school bus accident which claimed the lives of four students of DPS along with the bus driver.

Ms Mahajan wrote "According to the information I have received, the School Education Department has been strictly implementing the law regarding (private) schools in Delhi. In case of violations, a strong provision has been made under which the government takes over and runs such schools."

Referring to the provisions in Delhi she said if CM considered it suitable then such regulations can also be introduced for the schools in MP.

She suggested that for younger and older students there should be separate toilets and entirely separate for the employees.

The entire school premises should be monitored using the CCTV cameras and police verification of the school staff must be made mandatory.
On January 5, a speeding bus of the DPS School rammed into a truck which left four students and the driver dead.
