After being ranked as a category-1 university by the HRD Ministry, the university has been granted autonomy to make admissions in various PG courses offered by the university. The University scored 3.52 points out of 4.0 in the National Assessment and Accreditation’s (NAAC’s) assessment.

Two years ago, the Government of Haryana brought all universities of the state under the common admission process. KU had been advocating its case for the autonomy which has finally been granted. Now, KU will be able to select the students according to its own rules which will help university in picking the most meritorious students from across the nation.

The authorities of the university have already decided the modalities to this effect. “the admission to the students will be based on the combined merit computed on the basis of score in entrance test, marks in the qualifying exam and on account of participation in extra-curricular activities such as NSS, NCC, sports and cultural activities,” said the official.

KU Vice-Chancellor Dr Kailash Chandra Sharma said, “This admission process will help in getting the best students, which would help the university to achieve excellence in academics and research. This decision of the government is a step towards the true implementation of the academic autonomy which will help in further improving the academic standards of the university.”
