Kerala boasts of one of the highest literacy rates in the country, and this isn't without a good reason.

The final results of the Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate Exam were announced yesterday. According to the results, a whopping 97.99% students have managed to clear the examination. This pass percentage is 2.52 more than the last year's record.

According to the data furnished by P K Abdu Rabb, the state's education minister, out of the 4,68,466 students who wrote the exam, 4,58,841 passed the exam and would be eligible for higher studies.

Additionally, a total of 12,287 students across the state got 'A' plus grade in all the subjects.

The best performing district was Kannur with 97.99% pass numbers, whereas Palakkad stood last. Kannur also had the highest passing percentage in 2011 "“ 2012.

According to the minister, a total of 464 students opted to write the examination in Gulf centres. Out of them, 461 have passed.
