Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in collaboration with the Kendriya Vidayalaya Sangathan has launched a student-scientist connect program in order to extend the classroom theoretical learning to research based well planned learning. The program is expected to connect the 1151 KVs and 38 National laboratories of CSIR. Under the program nearly 1,00,000 students along with 1000 teachers will be targeted on annual basis. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony for same was graced by the presence of Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Minister of Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Environment, Forests and Climate Change and Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Human Resource Development.
The program has been named JIGYASA and is inspired by the PM Modi's new vision of the India. While addressing the gathering Dr. Harsh Vardhan said "It is a historic day when two ministries are collaborating on the Youth who are the future of the nation".
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of Human Resource Development Shri Prakash Javadekar said that "to inculcate scientific temper among the students we have to make them aware about the impact of science on the society. Science has played a very important role in changing our lives".
CSIR will also hunt the talented students among the visiting students and Javadekar said that he will personally review the status of the reports periodically.
