The final date for the JEE Advanced exam has been released. This year Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, under the guidance of JAB, will conduct the exam on May 19, 2019. Since last year, the exam has taken the online avatar. Candidates aspiring to clear the JEE exam can take the JEE Advanced exam a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
The exam is touted as one of the toughest entrance exams in India and is the only gateway to secure a seat in one of the 23 premium institutes of engineering and technology i.e. IITs. To appear for the exam, an aspirant has to first qualify the JEE Mains and secure a rank among the top 2 lakh students in the nation.
Exam pattern and schedule
The exam consists of 2 compulsory papers (paper 1 and paper 2) each of 3-hour duration.
Paper I: 9 am to 12 pm
Paper II: 2 pm to 5 pm
Of the 1.55 lakh aspirants who appeared for the JEE Advanced this year, 18,138 students cleared the cut-off, which is 1.6 times the number of seats on offer, according to IIT-Kanpur. In 2017, more than 51,000 students had cleared the examination.
