Good leaders should lead by example and show the right way to their disciples, and when the leaders are elected by democracy, for the country, their responsibility is manifold. However the present scene at the Parliament speaks contrary and demeans the whole purpose of democracy. Appalled at the way the ruling party and opposition are handling issues in the Parliament, Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said that, people choose a government after five years and in a democracy, people’s mandate is above all. And in this way if the parliament does not work, this is undemocratic and an insult to the mandate.
He was apprehensive over Kendriya Vidyalaya students visiting parliament and expressed his concern on the image the students of the country will take back home from the visit. He was of the opinion that the opposition is hindering the functioning of the elected Parliament which is unhealthy and would have a negative impact on the students. He echoed his concern at an event marking the foundation day of Kendriya Vidyalaya schools .He wondered what he would show the school children from Kendriya Vidyalayas who will come to watch the proceedings. The kind of ruckus going on in the Parliament would set a wrong example in front of the kids. He was also worried that the children would come having learnt discipline but would go back imbibing indiscipline.
Mr. Javadekar is hopeful that these kinds of exposure and opinion of general public will put the people in Parliament under Self pressure to conduct themselves better and resolve issues with healthy debates.
He also announced about the National Conference to be held in March where budding innovators and interesting experiments will be felicitated and best practices shared.
