The NEET has managed to gather much of the limelight this entire year. The Government has now introduced a new ordinance which would keep the states out of NEET for this year at least.

But in a shot in the arm for NEET, the famed Jamia Millia Islamia University has announced that it is cancelling its entrance exam meant for admissions into the BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) course and it would only take admissions through NEET (National Eligibility and Entrance Test) which would be conducted by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).

An official statement issued by the University said, "As per the order of the Supreme Court regarding NEET administered by the CBSE, Jamia's BDS entrance examination scheduled for June 3 stands cancelled,"

The statement further said, "All prospective candidates who are desirous of gaining admission to the BDS course at JMI for the academic year 2016-17 are required to appear in the NEET. Jamia will use NEET all India rankings for selection under existing admission/reservation policy of the university,"

The second phase of NEET would be conducted on 24th July, post which the University would open the BDS admission process from 1st June to 15th June. Earlier, the Supreme Court of Indian had issued a directive, according to which the CBSE was required to conduct the NEET exam across the country for admissions to dental and MBBS courses in various medical colleges.

But objections were raised by the state governments who were of the view that it won't give enough time to the students to prepare for an entirely different syllabus and they would possibly face certain language issues as well.
